Last week we added 229 new devices to the 51Degrees device detection database and we will have a look at some of the tablets that have been recently released by Denver Electronics.

51Degrees took a look at the first three month of browsing data for the Samsung Galaxy S4, S5 and S6 as well as the HTC One, HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M9). The objective was to see the volume of web browsing that each device took up as a proportion of browsing on all Samsung or HTC devices.

The world's biggest handset manufacturer Samsung, recently released two new models in the Galaxy A and J smartphone lineups. The Galaxy A8 and Galaxy J7 are both mid range handsets looking to set the bar higher for this market amid tough competition.

To gain a better understanding of where the tablet market stands today, without the overpowering ‘noise' that Apple creates, 51Degrees – a device detection company - has pulled together data from more than 3 billion unique web sessions per month based on a variety of Android tablets, and their percentage of web traffic, on a global and individual country scale (Germany, UK, USA and India.)

Whilst the sport, never mind this particular contest, is well-known but rarely understood outside the countries where it is played, the competition remains the fiercest rivalry in the game's history.

The battle between iOS and Android is usually played out in the battlefield of the high street, where the two key mobile operating systems compete for sales. The relative performance of each operating system can therefore fluctuate greatly: the month after a new iPhone launch iOS devices tend to do very well and the same is true when a new Android phone is launched or a price drop takes place.
